Witnessing nanotechnology becoming an important technology development of 21st century, the Center of Nanotechnology Design and Prototyping at the National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan was established in June 2002. The mission of the Center is to promote commercial readiness of nanotechnology through fundamental basic research and rapid design and prototyping. In particular, an open laboratory reservation system was installed to expedite dissemination of the research findings and facilitate academic and industrial collaborations.
On-going research focuses of the Center include nano-mechanics, renewable energy, and flexible electronics fabrication. The leading-edge research has generated several academia-industry collaborative projects and resulted in productive technology transfers.
